Start Module

Scrum has five ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Sprint itself (which is a ceremony in the sense that it has a fixed rhythm). Each one exists for a specific reason. Each one can be done wrong.

The most dangerous failure mode isn't skipping ceremonies — it's running them religiously while completely missing the point. That's the cargo cult: the form without the function.

Lessons

  1. Meetings That Matter: Planning and Daily Scrum — The purpose of Sprint Planning and the Daily Scrum, and the exact moment when each one goes wrong.
  2. Sprint Finale: Review (Demo) and Retrospective — Two ceremonies, two very different audiences, one common mistake.
  3. The Cargo Cult Trap: When Scrum Breaks — Five warning signs that your team is performing Scrum rather than practicing it.
