You've landed your first QA role — congratulations! Now comes the part no bootcamp fully prepares you for: walking into a team of 15 people, each with a job title you've vaguely heard of, speaking a dialect of English that includes "sprint velocity", "acceptance criteria", and "deployed to staging."
This course is your field guide.
What You'll Learn
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Identify every major role on a software development team and understand what each person actually does
- Read and write a Jira ticket like someone who has been doing it for years
- Trace a feature from a business idea through to a live production release
- Explain the difference between Agile/Scrum and Waterfall — and pass the quiz
- Describe where QA fits at every stage of the SDLC, not just the testing column
Why This Matters for QA
Here's a truth many new testers discover the hard way: the best QA engineers are not people who are good at finding bugs. They are people who prevent bugs from being written in the first place.
That requires understanding who makes decisions, why tasks move the way they do, and what each phase of development is actually trying to achieve. Without that context, you're reacting. With it, you're leading.
The Three Modules
Module 1 — Who Is Who: The IT Team Map
You'll meet your future colleagues: the PM who keeps the project on schedule, the BA who turns business problems into requirements, the PO who guards the product vision, the Frontend and Backend developers who build it, and the DevOps engineer who makes sure it stays up. Plus the UX Designer and Support team — the quiet professionals who shape the product's first and last impressions.
Module 2 — Life in Tickets: Tasks, Trackers, and Time
Everything on a software team lives in a ticket. This module teaches you to read, write, and understand the lifecycle of a task — from the moment it's created in Jira to the moment it's closed in production. You'll learn what "Definition of Done" means, why the Kanban board looks the way it does, and how to survive (and contribute to) the Daily Standup.
Module 3 — SDLC: The Journey from Idea to Release
This is where everything comes together. You'll walk through the six classic phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, discover why a bug found in requirements costs a fraction of a bug found in production, and learn why "Agile" is not just a buzzword — it's a fundamentally different way of building software. Most importantly, you'll see exactly where QA belongs at every single step.
Your Reward
Complete the full course to earn the Teamplayer badge — proof that you understand not just how to test software, but how the entire team comes together to build it.
